Mohammedan Sporting wins by lone goal

KOLKATA: Mohammedan Sporting managed to subdue Mohammedan AC by a solitary second half goal in a premier division match of the Calcutta Football League here on Saturday.

Mondal scores winner

The all-important goal was scored by Suraj Mondal in the 73rd minute.

This victory lifted Sporting to 22 points from seven victories and a draw from 12 games.

Mohammden AC, which is occupying the last but one place in the league table, lost its ninth match in 13 outings.

Varsities' cricket

Calcutta University was lucky to win the toss and get two points when its second league match of the Ajoy Ghosh Memorial Trophy cricket tournament was not played owing to wet ground conditions.

CU had lost its first game against Viswa Bharati by five wickets.

CU will play North Bengal University on Sunday.
