Over Rs. 25 lakh aid disbursed to 364 beneficiaries

VILLUPURAM: Assistance worth over Rs. 25 lakh was given away to 364 beneficiaries at mass contact programmes held in Villupuram and Cuddalore districts on Thursday.
Villupuram Collector R. Palanisamy received as many as 358 petitions in the programme held at Elavadi in Kallakurichi block.
He told the gathering that action would be taken on the petitions within a month.

Toll-free telephone number 1070 had been installed for the sake of people residing in remote areas of the district to register their grievances.
He also said that under the Kalaignar Housing Scheme, a total of 1.8 lakh huts in the district would be converted into concrete houses in the next six years.
Mr. Palanisamy gave away aid worth Rs. 17.76 lakh to 279 beneficiaries.
Cuddalore Collector P. Seetharaman received 91 petitions in the mass contact programme organised at Kanjakollai in Kattumannarkoil block.
He disbursed aid worth Rs 7.6 lakh to 85 beneficiaries.
