planting growth:Former Union Minister S. Regupathy planting a sapling as part of the NCC day celebrations in Pudukottai. PUDUKOTTAI: The National Cadets Corps (NCC) movement has imparted special skills including personality development, emergency crisis management techniques to students, thereby proving to be of immense value to them. Realising the significance of the movement, school and college students should take maximum advantage of NCC movement, observed S. Regupathy, former Union Minister of State. Speaking at a function to mark the observance of NCC Day organised by the H.H. The Rajah's College here recently, Mr. Regupathy said that the intensive training under the movement imparted a sense of discipline and students would also benefit through employability skills. He appreciated the efforts of the NCC cadets who had brought laurels to the college. S. Sethuraman, Principal of the college, said that the NCC movement plays a crucial role in shaping the character of the youth. Shankar Sivam, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Armed Reserve police; S. Viswanathan, Controller of Examinations; Capt. P. Rajaretnam, Commander Captain, NCC; Subedar Ravindran and Naib Subedar S.P. Singh of 9 TN, BN, NCC Karaikudi, were among those who spoke. Earlier, Mr. Regupathy honoured the NCC cadets – corporals K. Geetha; Kumaresan and Surendar Balu for their outstanding performance in the national level contest. He also planted saplings on the college campus as part of the observance.
