Signatures of HSBC Bank officials forged

HYDERABAD: The special court trying the accused in the Satyam Computers fraud was told today that the signatures on balance confirmation letters purported to have been issued by HSBC Bank in favour of the company did not belong to any of the bank officials. Rakesh Patwari, senior vice-president of corporate bank of HSBC at Kolkata, informed the court that the confirmation letters were false as the balances were incorrect and non-existent. The letterheads used for the documents did not belong to HSBC.

The bank also noted that the documents reflecting balance confirmation were inconsistent .
