THIRUVALLA: With its players rushing from table to table without much of a break, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram entered the inter-district semifinals in the women's and youth boys and girls sections at the 59 {+t} {+h} Kerala State table tennis championship at the Jerusalem Parish Hall here on Thursday evening. “Scheduling the matches is a big problem because we have the same players in different categories,” said Joseph Chacko, the championship's Chief Referee. Kerala Sports Minister M. Vijaykumar inaugurated the three-day event while Mathew T. Thomas, MLA, presided over the opening function. The results: Men's super league: Kollam bt Kasargod 3-0; Palakkad bt Kannur 3-0; Thrissur bt Kottayam 3-0; Kozhikode bt Kottayam3-0; Malapuaram bt Kannur 3-0; Idukki bt Wynad 3-0; Ernakulam bt Kasargod 3-0. Youth boys quarterfinals: Alappuzha bt Malapuram 3-0; Wynad bt Thrissur 3-0; Ernakulam bt Palakkad 3-0; Thiruvananthapuram bt Kozhikode 3-0. Women's quarterfinals: Thiruvananthapuram bt Wynad 3-2; Kozhikode bt Idukki 3-1; Ernakulam bt Thrissur 3-1; Alappuzha bt Idukki 3-0.
