Woman commits suicide

Special Correspondent

Chennai: A woman allegedly committed suicide in a resort on East Coast Road on Wednesday.

Police said Madan Kumar (30) and Vijayalakshmi (26) of Mylapore checked into a room in the resort near Neelankarai. A little later, Madan received a call that his mother was unwell. He rushed home and asked Vijayalakshmi to vacate the room as he was busy taking care of his ailing mother.

When he went to the resort a few hours later, the staff there informed him that Vijayalakshmi had committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling. The body was shifted to the Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem.

The woman, who got divorce a few months ago, had developed a friendship with Madan. She had left a suicide note stating that nobody was responsible for her death, police added.

The Neelankarai police are investigating.
