Large tumour removed from woman's stomach

KOCHI: A giant cancerous ovarian tumour of 9.1 kg that extended from pelvis to uppermost limit of abdomen just below the chest, was removed from the stomach of a 59-year-old woman in a private hospital here.
A resident of Edappally, the woman was past menopause for over five years.
An evaluation at the hospital revealed that the ovarian tumour was malignant.
Surgery
She was immediately posted for surgery that lasted one-and-a-half hours.
A team of doctors at Sunrise Hospital led by gynaecologist Hafeez Rahman, Rajakumari Unnithan and anesthetist Shaji P. G. performed the surgery using laparotomy.
