Judicial remand for Games Organising Committee officials

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A court here on Thursday remanded former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee joint director-general T. S. Darbari and deputy director-general Sanjay Mahendroo to judicial custody till December 8 and former OC treasurer M. Jeyachandran to two-day CBI custody.

The three had been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigations on November 14 for alleged irregularities in payments made to an UK-based firm A. M. Car and Van Hire Ltd for transportation services during the launch of the Queen's Baton Relay (QBR). The CBI registered another case on the same date against the trio for hiring of video screens from AM Films Ltd for the QBR.

Counsels for the accused trio will now move an application for anticipatory bail in the second case on November 30. While the application for regular bail for Darbari and Mahendroo will come up for hearing on December 8, Jeyachandran will be produced in court on November 27.
