Cuddalore
CUDDALORE: Lignite mining at Neyveli has been affected following continuous rain for the past 48 hours. However, the Neyveli Lignite Corporation management has been maintaining power generation at about 1,700 MW against the maximum capacity of 2,490 MW. As open-cast mines are acting as receptacles for rainwater, the authorities are constantly pumping out water. NLC sources said that in wet condition, excavation could not be carried out. They also said that stagnating rainwater was being baled out from the mines into the Paravanar, without causing flood situation.
