Vehicle screening model main attraction at science exhibition

Special Correspondent

‘It will help authorities prevent entry of unauthorised vehicles'

INNOVATIVE:Sridevi, a student, explaining her model at the exhibition in Gulbarga on Thursday.

Gulbarga: The main attraction at the two-day Gulbarga District Science Exhibition was an innovative model for foolproof laser screening of vehicles entering vital installations. Sridevi, 10th standard student of St. Teresa High School, Gulbarga, made the presentation.

She said that laser screening of vehicles would help authorities prevent the entry of unauthorised vehicles into security zone. The former Vice-Chancellor of Gulbarga University and member of the Karnataka Knowledge Commission B.G. Mulimani appreciated the work of the student and remarked “this is a good model…I appreciate the simple methods used by the student to convey her idea”.

Ms. Sridevi said that any vehicle which has to enter vital installations would be provided with four secret codes and these codes would be installed online in the electronic circuits installed in the vehicles. The vehicle would be allowed into the security zone at the first security check in which the vehicle would be screened using laser equipment and the vehicle would be stopped at the second checking point if the secret codes do not match with the codes given to the vehicle.

The vehicle cannot escape from the second checking point since all the escape routes would be sealed and the security personnel at the checking point can easily apprehend the miscreants, said Ms. Sridevi.

The Gulbarga District Science Exhibition is being held in the Rotary Club School in Gulbarga after a gap of three years. Thanks to the initiative taken by the Education Officer at the Gulbarga District Science Centre C.N. Laxminarayan.
