Mumbai: K. Unnikrishnan, father of martyr National Security Guard commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, said here on Friday that he found Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab's appeal for retrial absurd.
Kasab is the lone surviving gunman of the 26/11 attack. “Personally, I think even Kasab's trial should not have happened, because we have seen everything on the CCTV footage,” he said while talking on the sidelines of ‘Ek Kadam – A March for Solidarity,' a commemorative event for 26/11 anniversary at the Gateway of India here.
He ended his month-long cycle rally ‘Naman Shahidonko' (A tribute to the martyrs) from India Gate to Gateway of India here during which he had cycled more than 1,600 km. “It is Sandeep's spirit which makes me do this. I have promised him, I'll walk on his path till I die,” he told the gathering. He was accompanied by his wife, Dhanlakshmi. Families of other martyrs who died fighting terrorists in Kashmir joined them on the dais. Mr. Unnikrishnan was welcomed amid a huge round of applause. “I have the energy to cycle back to Delhi,” he said.
Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Home Minister R.R. Patil, Member of Parliament Milind Deora, Minister of Public Health Suresh Shetty, film stars Raveena Tandon, Mahima Chaudhary, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shaina N.C. were present.
