HYDERABAD: The ‘Media and Entertainment Business Conclave' to be held here on December 1 and 2 will have a host of bigwigs participating, including Anthony Waye, Executive Producer of Bond Pictures, actor Kamal Haasan and film-makers Yash Chopra, Subhash Ghai and Karan Johar. Media moghul Ramoji Rao, D. Suresh Babu and Allu Arvind will represent the Telugu industry.
At a press conference on Friday, Mr. Suresh Babu said the conclave would serve as a platform for people from different facets of the entertainment industry to share innovative ideas and air their grievances.
Delegates, especially the younger ones, would know how to make a film in eight weeks, apart from finding out the nuances of distribution, using newer revenue models. The meet, put together by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), would be inaugurated by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni will deliver ‘vision' address.
Those attending include Uday Shankar and Barun Das, CEOs of Star India and Zee News respectively.
Allu Arvind of Geetha Arts said the conclave would guide film-makers on project finance, with banks now coming forward to offer loans at lesser rates of interest, as compared to 36 per cent predominantly from private financiers.
Leena Jaisani, FICCI director and head (entertainment), said TV and films constituted about 40 per cent and 25 per cent respectively, in the Rs. 60,000-crore entertainment industry. J.A. Chowdhary from FICCI-Andhra Pradesh, said youngsters from the IT sector could learn how they could put their domain knowledge in digital graphics and special effects to use in films, by attending the conclave.
