NEW DELHI: Pakistan has been told that despite its repeated promises at the highest levels, “substantive and verifiable progress” was not made in bringing all perpetrators and masterminds of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks to justice.
In a note verbale, the Ministry of External Affairs said there was no feedback from Islamabad on New Delhi's request for voice samples of the Pakistan-based handlers of the 10 terrorists who attacked Mumbai. The handlers' directives to the terrorists were intercepted while the attacks were taking place.
India also pointed out that a “time-bound fulfilment” of Pakistan's stated commitments would not only go a long way in building trust between the two countries but would also be a reflection of Islamabad's commitment to comprehensively combat terrorism.
Islamabad, the Ministry felt, should respond because of the “extensive cooperation” by India in connection with the ongoing trial and investigation in Pakistan. India once again called upon Pakistan to fulfil its stated commitment to bring all the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks to justice. “Lack of tangible progress in delivering on this vital commitment is increasingly being viewed in the Indian public opinion as dilatory and lacking in seriousness,” the statement said.
