Jadhav, Tarjinder hit half-centuries

CHENNAI: Fighting fifties by opener Dheeraj Jadhav (79) and No. 5 Tarjinder Singh (74) took Assam to a total of 298 against host Mumbai in a Ranji Trophy Super League match on Friday.

Jadhav and Tarjinder stabilised Assam's innings with a 128-run partnership for the fourth wicket after their side found itself three down for 70.

Assam then dispatched three Mumbai batsmen — including skipper Wasim Jaffer — before close, leaving the home team 207 runs behind with seven wickets in hand.

The scores (fourth round, third day):

At Vadodara: Baroda 416 vs Punjab 243 in 77.2 overs (Sarul Kanwar 130, Bhargav Bhatt four for 59) & 79 for four in 27 overs (Sarul Kanwar 42 batting).

At Ahmedabad: Gujarat 273 in 98 overs (Priyank Panchal 63, Niraj Patel 44, Pratharesh Parmar 59 n.o., Ranadeb Bose four for 63) vs Bengal 99 for two in 46 overs.

At Bangalore: Orissa 191 & 92 for one in 46 overs (Natraj Behera 50 n.o.) vs Karnataka 503 in 134.4 overs (Manish Pandey 171, M. Gautam 158, Abhimanyu Mithun 63 n.o., Alok Chandra Sahoo four for 110).

At Mumbai: Assam 298 in 102.1 overs (Dheeraj Jadhav 79, Tarjinder Singh 74) vs Mumbai 91 for three in 31 overs.

At Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh 197 vs Himachal Pradesh 23 for two in 14 overs.

At Chennai: Tamil Nadu 335 for four decl. in 103 overs (Abhinav Mukund 131, S. Badrinath 149) vs Railways 40 for no loss in 17 overs.

At Rajkot: Saurashtra 231 for six in 75.3 overs (Chirag Pathak 58, Bhushan Chauhan 58, Jaydev Shah 43 n.o., Vikas Mishra four for 33) .
