Raring to go: Captain Parvinder Singh of the AOC, Secunderabad getting ready to take off on his para-motor glide in Kamareddy on Sunday.

NIZAMABAD: Paratroopers of the A.O.C. Secunderabad entertained the youth and locals with their adventures in the air with the help of paramotor glides over Kamareddy town and later Indira Gandhi Sports Stadium on the outskirts of the town, on Sunday evening.

16-member team

The one-hour-long adventures made the youth spellbound and entailed in them respect and interest over the career in the Indian Army. Started from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh on November 22, the 16-member paratrooper team arrived at the Kamareddy on Sunday.

Led by Captain Balwinder Singh the team so far covered several places in Madhya Pradesh and Maharastra “Every day we are covering 100 km in the air with paramotor. While I along with Captain Parmender Singh came gliding, my other colleagues came by road.

Creating awareness among youth on the Indian Army and benefits of joining it is the main objective of this journey,” said Captain Balwinder Singh while talking to the media persons.

Grand welcome

Deputy Superintendent of Police Kamareddy D. Uthamakumar Reddy and his police team gave wide publicity in the town with regard to the arrival of the Army troopers.

They received them [paratroopers] at the town.

Captain Balwinder Singh said the paramotor weighing 40 kg travels at least 30 km per hour flying over 1000 ft high. They conducted the similar event at Nirmal in Adilabad district on Saturday last, he explained.

Due to bad weather they had to end the programme on Sunday a little early.
