KARIMNAGAR: The Zilla Parishad special meeting has passed a unanimous resolution urging the state government to announce Padmashri award posthumously to ‘Oggu katha' exponent Midde Ramulu, who passed away recently in Karimnagar district. At a special ZP meeting convened to pass the budget for the BRGF scheme here on Sunday, the ZPTC members have paid tributes to eminent folk artiste Midde Ramulu, who made the Oggu katha very popular and bought international recognition to the traditional folk media. The members have urged the district administration name the Kala Bharathi, a cultural centre in Karimnagar town as Midde Ramulu Kala bharathi and also installed his statue on the premises. The members have also urged the government to provide some financial assistance to the bereaved family members of Midde Ramulu. They said that the Midde Ramulu suffered a lot during his last days of life by suffering from cancer disease. ZP chairman A. Laxman Kumar, Collector G.D. Aruna, legislators Ch. Vijaya Ramana Rao, Koppula Eshwar, K. Vidyasagar Rao was also present.
