Nalini case: Congress MP files impleading petition
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: A former MP of the Congress has moved the Madras High Court seeking to implead himself in a writ petition filed by Nalini, a life convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, praying for a direction for premature release.
In his petition, R. Anbarasu, a former Lok Sabha MP from Chennai Central constituency, objected to the plea for premature release of Nalini. He said the death sentence imposed on her was commuted to one of life imprisonment in April 2000. She could not seek premature release as of right.
He strongly objected to Nalini's present petition.
