Volga Archery Academy to organise run to raise funds

Staff Reporter

A nominal entry fee from the participants of the run may be collected

Student organisations to be requested to make the run a success

VIJAYAWADA: Volga Archery Academy (VAA) chairman Cherukuri Satyanarayana on Monday said that a run would be conducted in memory of Ch. Lenin, the Indian archery coach who recently died in a road accident, on the city thoroughfares soon to mobilise funds to hire Korean coach Chea Woong Lim, who has volunteered to coach the city archers.

Mr. Satyanarayana said on Monday that the academy was going through a difficult phase after the sudden death of Mr. Lenin as there was no qualified coach to impart the finer aspects of the game to the budding archers. “We would like to collect a nominal entry fee from the participants of the run to meet the expenses for hiring the Korean coach,” he said.

Krishna District Olympic Association secretary K.P. Rao said that all the top sport personalities of the State, including Dronacharya awardees, Arjuna Awardees, Rajiv Khel Ratna awardees, sports administrators and representatives of corporate outfits, would be taking part in the run.

“We will be approaching all student organisations such as All India Students Federation, Students Federation of India, United Independents, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyardhi Parishad and National Students Union of India to extend their cooperation for the success of the run,” Mr. Rao said. Krishna District Archery Association secretary M. Adinarayana, West Godavari Archery Association joint Secretary Jaya Raju and Viswa Bharathi High School T. Murali took part in the meeting.
