Ready to align with Jagan: Shiva Kumar

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Founder president of YSR Congress Party Kolishetty Shiva Kumar has expressed his willingness to offer his party's name to former MP Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, though with certain conditions.

Drafts constitution

Mr. Shiva Kumar, who registered the YSR Congress Party with the State Election Commission (SEC) and the Election Commission of India (ECI) in August this year, said that Mr. Jagan's followers had already sounded him out.

“They telephoned me today asking whether I was interested in joining hands with the new political party likely to be floated by him,” Mr. Shiva Kumar, a former Congress leader from L.B.Nagar Assembly constituency here told The Hindu on Tuesday.

He has already drafted a party constitution and designed a flag.

Mr. Shiva Kumar wanted Mr. Jagan to give a commitment that he would continue the welfare and developmental programmes initiated by his father Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and ensure that they percolated to the grassroot level. “I will wait for some time and discuss with the Jagan group. In fact, I am planning to unveil the YSR Congress Party flag at Pavurallagutta on December 29,” he said.
