‘Congress a seasonal party'
Special Correspondent
CHANDIGARH: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday ridiculed the Congress by describing it as a “seasonal political party” that woke up from hibernation only during poll year.
Mr. Badal, who is also the president of the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal, was talking to reporters after presiding over a workers' meeting at the historic Gurdwara Sri Dukhnivaran Sahib. He said it was the SAD that remained constantly engaged in the service of people without caring about electoral politics. The Akali chief said the previous Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, who was inaccessible to his own MLAs for first four years, woke up in the election year and tried to lure farmers by announcing free power.
