One million saplings planted

MAHABUBNAGAR: Palamuru University in collaboration with the Council for Green Revolution (CGR) planted 1,50,001th sapling on the university campus here on Tuesday.

 The CGR, a voluntary organisation started this programme eight months back by planting the first sapling in Amangal mandal in the district.

They have collaborated with NSS unit of Palamuru University in reaching the target. The 1,50,001st sapling was planted by Collector M. Purushotham Reddy and Prof. V. Gopal Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, Palamuru University, RDO and others.

 Later addressing the student gathering, the Collector said that the programme to protect environment by the CGR is highly appreciable and any support from the district administration will always be extended for such constructive cause. The programme, was presided over by Prof. V. Gopal Reddy, Vice-Chancellor.

 He explained the importance of plantation in restoration of unbalanced environment. Environmentalist Prof. K. Purshotham Reddy was also present.
