KOTTAYAM: Mahatma Gandhi University will organise an international conference on higher education on ‘Education for Peace, Social Inclusion and Sustainable Development: Towards a Paradigm Shift' from December 8 to10.
Vice-Chancellor Rajan Gurukkal said that the conference would focus on the correlations between higher education and values, social justice and sustainable development. The seminar will be opened by M.A. Baby, Minister for Education and Cultural Affairs. Johann Deisenhofer, Nobel laureate and scientist at the University of Texas, will deliver the keynote address.
An education exhibition will be open from December 6. Around 300 delegates are expected to attend the meet.
Around 30 scholars from abroad will come as resource persons or special invitees. Oscar Fernandez, chairman, parliamentary committee on human resource development; Thomas Isaac, Minister for Finance; and Oommen Chandy, Opposition Leader, will attend the valedictory function on December 10.
