KOLLAM: Officers and employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) will go on a three-day nation-wide strike from Wednesday, pressing their various demands. C. Muraleedharan, convener of the joint action committee for the strike, said more than 15,000 officers and employees would join the strike in Kerala. Mr. Muraleedharan said the strike could seriously hit all BSNL services on the second and third days. The joint action committee is the umbrella organisation for seven unions of the BSNL officers and employees. They are the BSNLEU, NUBSNL, NFTE, TEPU, BSNLMS, SNEA and the AIBSNLEA. A charter of eleven demands has been placed before the government. The demands included dropping moves to divest BSNL, withdrawal of voluntary retirement scheme and return of Rs.18,500 crore given to the government.
