Renukacharya has directed Deputy Commissioner Naveen Raj Singh to suspend District Health Officer (DHO) Bheeshmachar and issue notices to a few officials of the Public Works Department and zilla panchayat for dereliction of duty. Mr. Renukacharya reviewed the progress of development works in the district at the zilla panchayat auditorium on Tuesday. He took note of the fact that District Health Officer Bheeshmachar had not invited him to a function organised to inaugurate the primary health centre at Udayapura village in Channarayapatna taluk. As Mr. Bheeshmachar explanation on the subject failed to convince him, the Minister directed the Deputy Commissioner to suspend the District Health Officer and conduct an inquiry into the incident. Mr. Renukacharya took objection to Executive Engineer Hemavathi Dam Division Prakash not inviting him to the functions organised to lay foundation stone for the Kachenahalli Lift Irrigation Project. So, he directed the Deputy Commissioner to issue a notice to the official concerned seeking explanation. He told Mr. Naveen Raj Singh to issue a notice to Executive Engineer, Channarayapatna PWD for not visiting the people affected by the recent rains, which caused damage to public property. Mr. Renukacharya visited villages that were affected by the recent rains and directed the authorities to repair the Mayasandra Bridge. He also visited Muttige village in Arkalgud taluk where crops were damaged due to breach of Doddakere tank. He also directed the officials to build a bund immediately for the tank to avoid further damage. Mr. Renukacharya said that property worth Rs. 40 crore had been damaged in the district during the recent rains and the Government had released Rs. 5 crore immediately to take up relief measures. He added that he would make efforts to release Rs. 50 crore special grant promised by the Chief Minister.
