On their mark:Students participating in the NTPC's Electron Quiz-2010 southern regional level competition held in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

HYDERABAD: Try this. Which car did West Indian fast bowler Malcolm Marshall book halfway through the famous 1983 cricket world cup final match, thinking he would pay for the vehicle through the prize money he earns from the match? The answer is BMW. This comes from none other than the great bowler himself in his autobiography.

This was one of the questions with which the students had to grapple at the NTPC's Electron Quiz-2010 southern regional level competition held here on Tuesday. In all, 38 teams, comprising two players each from different engineering and management colleges, participated in the competition. In the preliminary round, 25 questions were flashed on a giant screen and one minute was given to students to answer each question.

The subject areas for the quiz were corporate business, business history, management concepts, brands entertainment etc. Top six teams were shortlisted for the final round of the regional level, of which three teams would be picked up to participate in the NTPC Electron Quiz national finals to be held at New Delhi on December 10, said NTPC Limited Manager (PR) Elbert C.

Interesting

The objective behind conducting the quiz was to encourage students to participate in extra curricular activities. This apart, it would also make learning about different aspects more interesting for students. The quiz was conducted by Sujit Varkey and K.M Prashanth, who have been representing NTPC in various corporate quiz competitions, he added.

Final round of the quiz comprised of identifying visual images, audio clips, audio-video clips, etc. Top three teams, including Schools of Management Studies – HCU and two teams from Indian School of Business Hyderabad campus were presented with prizes worth Rs.15,000, Rs.10,000 and Rs.6,000.
