Investigation pertains to Nallakunta murder and Narayanaguda hotel worker case Action sought against police officers responsible for faulty investigation HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Detective Department, which reinvestigated the cases of Nallakunta double murder and Narayanaguda hotel worker homicide, had found the previous investigation in both the cases was faulty. A report was being sent to the Hyderabad Police Commissioner seeking departmental action against police officers responsible for the faulty investigation, the DD top officials told The Hindu on Tuesday. The re-investigation, the officials said, had found that Y. Narasimhulu, who was arrested on charge of murdering a 60-year-old watchman and his woman companion after raping her, did not kill the watchman. “But, there is circumstantial evidence suggesting that he had murdered the woman after raping her in an intoxicated condition. Now, he would be tried for raping and killing that woman,” the officials said. G. Gopal, 60, and his woman companion, Manga, 35, were found murdered in a building under construction at Padma colony in Nallakunta on July 3. Three days later, the Commissioner's Task Force (East) team arrested Y. Narasimhulu, who was working as watchman in a neighbouring house, on charge of killing the couple. The case took a new turn two months later when the Narayanaguda police arrested a sexagenarian Ramachandran Rathore stating that he had admitted to the couple's murder along with four other homicide cases. Narasimhulu's family members cried foul accusing the police of falsely implicating him. Similar suspicions were raised in the murder of Tarun at Narayanaguda reported on July 12 since the local police had already arrested a footpath dweller, E. Srinivas Goud, but Rathore admitted to this homicide as well. Interestingly, the DD officials made it clear that Goud was a victim and not an accused. Goud was found lying next to Tarun with bleeding injuries on his head on roadside on that day. Sixteen days later, the Narayanaguda police arrested him on charge of killing Tarun in a drunken brawl. Goud had been languishing in prison since then. “We will bring out Goud on bail and get registered his statement under section 164 of Criminal Procedure Code before the magistrate,” the DD officials said.
