Crime tracking system to enhance police efficiency

‘Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems will connect 14,000 police stations'

Director SVP NPA Rajiv Mathur credited for efforts in this national e-governance project


HYDERABAD: The Rs.2,000-crore Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) would enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of policing at all levels in India by connecting 14,000 police stations across the country, said N.K. Tripathi, Director, National Crime Records Bureau here on Monday.

Participating in a panel discussion on CCTNS at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy here, he said the project was being implemented in a mission mode involving the entire gamut of policing. By keeping police stations in special focus for sharing real time crime and criminal information, the project would improve police operational efficiency by reducing manual and repetitive tasks and improving the overall security environment. He credited former NRCB chief and currently director, SVP National Police Academy, Rajiv Mathur with pioneering efforts in this national e-governance project of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Sunil Kumar, adviser safety, Railway Board, P.R.K. Naidu, IG NCRB and B. Narayana, general manager, National Institute of Smart Governance were the other speakers at the panel discussion, according to a press release from SVP National Police Academy. It said the mid-career training programme (Phase-IV) for DIGs and IGs at the Academy being conducted under the aegis of Cambridge University in partnership with Jindal Global Law Schoolcompleted its first week.
