Youth participate in 10-day entrepreneurship training

PUDUKOTTAI: Youth from different parts of the district participated in a 10-day entrepreneurship development programme conducted by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (Tamil Nadu) under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme, which concluded here recently.

The Centre is a training institute approved by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission and the state Department of Industries and Commerce.

The participants were given specialised training by experts, entrepreneurs from different fields and government officials. They participated in an interaction session with the students and also visited the industrial units functioning in SIPCOT Complex and SIDCO Industrial estate in the town.

R. P. Asokan, nodal officer, KVIC, Madurai, was the chief guest at the valediction and he distributed certificates to the participants.

He urged the participants to take the initiative of starting their own ventures thereby taking advantage of the various subsidy-based schemes. S. Prithiviraj, president, Small Scale Industries Association of Pudukottai district, in his special address, urged all the trainees to utilise the training to update their technical knowledge. The participants were urged to approach the SSI Association for getting any clarification on job opportunities.

S. M. Rasumani, general manager, District Industries Centre, inaugurated the programme.
