Three-day BSNL staff stir begins
Staff Reporter
KRISHNAGIRI: The three-day strike announced by the various unions of the BSNL employees and executives began on Wednesday.
The agitation was to urge the government to accept their 12-point charter of demands including repayment of 3G Spectrum licence fee as the government was yet to collect the licence fee from any other private operators in the country.
Not affected
However, the services were not affected in any part of the Dharmapuri Telecom Circle, which includes Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri revenue districts.
S. Alagirisamy, Telecom District Secretary of the BSNL Employees Union, told ‘The Hindu' that the strike was total in the district.
He said all the seven unions affiliated to various political parties participated in the strike.
All the three main telephone exchanges viz Krishnagiri, Hosur and Dharmapuri and other exchanges in Uthangarai, Harur, Pennagaram, Palacode and Denkanikottai remained closed on Wednesday.
