Coimbatore: Motorists beware ! The electronic eye will be watching you at traffic signals come Thursday. The offenders would no longer go unnoticed. Violators would be getting challans at their door steps within a day or two. Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order), K. Radhakrishnan will switch on the Aerial Traffic Control System of 100 cameras installed at 42 traffic junctions put up at an outlay of Rs 1.6 crore. The cameras will play a big brother watching. The modern control room of the police is having the database of the vehicle owners in Coimbatore. The system would prove a boon for traffic enforcement, regulation during congestion besides ensuring vigil to combat crime, Police Commissioner C. Sylendra Babu said.
