HYDERABAD: Trouble is brewing in the fledgling Kiran Kumar Reddy government as several senior Ministers, unhappy with the portfolios allocated to them, rose in a mood to revolt. Vatti Vasanth Kumar, who was given Tourism and Youth Services portfolio against the subject of Rural Development he had handled earlier, told The Hindu that he had faxed his resignation to the Chief Minister. He has also resigned as MLA. Some other Ministers are also likely to follow suit and were huddled in a meeting in Mr. Vasanth Kumar's residence after midnight on Wednesday. One of their grievances is that BCs and weaker sections were not given due importance. Among the Ministers who have expressed dissatisfaction with their portfolios are Dharmana Prasada Rao (R&B), Ponnala Lakshmaiah (IT), Botcha Satyanarayana (Transport), Kanna Laxminarayana (Housing). C. Damodar Rajanarsimha (Higher Education), Danam Nagendar (Labour), Jupally Krishna Rao (Endowments) and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy (Infrastructure & Ports). All of them are senior Congress leaders who have earlier served as Cabinet Ministers. Mr. Botcha Satyanarayana reportedly spoke to the Chief Minister over telephone and used strong words to convey his feelings on how seniors had been ‘shabbily treated' in the whole exercise. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has deputed Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy to speak to the Ministers who are dissatisfied with their portfolios. The Ministers are likely to confront the Chief Minister at the maiden meeting of the new Cabinet on Thursday morning.
