Call for Kumaraswamy's ouster

BJP to launch Statewide protest against attack on Puttaswamy's house

BANGALORE: Alleging that the followers of Janata Dal (Secular) State president H.D. Kumaraswamy were behind the attack on the residence of Chief Minister's political secretary B.J. Puttaswamy, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday urged JD(S) national president H.D. Deve Gowda to remove Mr. Kumaraswamy from the party post.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, BJP media in-charge S. Prakash condemned the attack on the residence of Mr. Puttaswamy and announced that the BJP would launch a Statewide protest against the issue. He demanded more security to Mr. Puttaswamy.

Terming it “political terrorism”, he said the JD(S) had set a wrong precedent through such an act of violence and alleged that the JD(S) had failed to function as a “responsible” Opposition both within and outside the legislature.

Asserting that everybody had a right to expression in a democratic set up, he said curtailing one's right through violent ways was against the principles of democracy.

BJP State secretaries A. Ravi and H.S. Gopinath and MLA Ashwathnarayana also condemned the attack.
