Students voice their talent to bag prizes

KARUR: Cultural competitions were conducted at the district level for school students in the faculties of kuralisai, dance and painting. The Department of Art and Culture under the aegis of Jawahar Bal Bhavan organised the competitions at the Municipal Boys Higher Secondary School here recently. The participants were classified age wise into groups .

A total of 153 participants from various schools competed in the events.

In the kuralisai section of 5 to 8 age group, V. Viswesh (Bharani Park) won the first prize, K.M. Samyuktha (Chettinad Vidhyalaya) the second prize and U. Raja Iswarya (St. Teresa's Matriculation School) the third prize.

In the 9 to12 age category Srinidhi Karthikeyan (Bharani Park Matric) walked away with the top honours, with R. Sruthi (Lord's Park) and R. Swetha (Brindavan Matric) following suit.

In the 13 to16 age group competitions, S.P. Bhargavi (Raja Muthaiah HSS) won the first prize while T. Sruthi (Bharani Park) and A. Keerthana (Raja Muthaiah HSS) bagged the second and third prizes.

In the dance competitions in the 5 to 8 age group T. Varnika (Chettinad Vidhyalaya) won the first prize followed by C.P. Sushmita (Bharani Park) and S. Priyadarshini (Little Angels).

In the 9 to12 age group competitions Srinidhi Karthikeyan won the first prize with S. Nandhini (Cheran Matric) and S. Priyadarshini (Kongu Matric) bagging the second and third prizes respectively. In the 13 to16 age group, M. Kousikan (Morning Star) won the top honours while P. Sruthi (Bharani Park) and A. Keerthana (Chettinad Vidhyalaya) got the runner up and third positions respectively.

In the painting contests, in the 5 to 8 age group, P. Hemala (Star Matriculation) won the first prize while V. Viswesh bagged the runner up slot and M.S. Sharan (Star Matric) won the third prize.

In the 9 to12 age group K. Javitha (Star Matric) won the first place with V. Akash (LNVN Matric) and S. Surekha (Star Matric) bagging the second and third places each.

In the 13 to16 age group, M. Koushik (Cheran Matric) secured the first position while P. Mohanraj (Star Matric) and M. Sivadarshini (St. Teresa Matric) won the second and third positions.

The winners of the 9 to12 and 13 to16 age group competitions would be eligible to compete in the state level competitions to be held in Pudukkottai later in December, according to the Assistant Director of Art and Culture, R. Gunasekaran.
