Residents block traffic

Coimbatore: Residents of Vadavalli staged a road blockade on Thursday morning protesting against the inadequate supply of drinking water besides seeking improvements to the battered Bommanampalayam Road.
The road blockade led to disruption of traffic affecting the motorists bound for Government Law College, Bharathiar University and Marudhamalai. Traffic was disrupted for quite some time.
Local body, revenue and police officials held talks with the agitators and a commotion prevailed for some time. Following assurances, the road blockade was lifted later.
