224 social workers are hailing from Thanjavur, Ariyalur, Sivaganga districts
THANJAVUR: Thirteen social workers from Thanjavur, Ariyalur and Sivaganga districts have been conferred the Jamsetji National Virtual Academy (NVA) fellowship for social works at the grassroots level, at a function held at the Mumbai University, recently.
A press release issued here by the Dr.M.S.Swaminathan Research Foundation rural centre at Thiruvaiyaru near Thanjavaur on Thursday said, the foundation has been selecting social workers who did exemplary social service and recommended them to the Jamsetji Tata National Virtual Academy (NVA) for its annual fellowship . For the year 2010, the fellowship convocation was held at Mumbai University recently.
Sivaraj Patil, Governor of Maharashtra and Digamber Kamat, Chief Minister of Goa, participated and conferred the fellowships. A total of 224 social workers from various states in the country were awarded the fellowship.
Thirteen social workers from Thanjavur, Ariyalur and Sivaganga districts got the fellowships. They are Guru Anbarasan, village president, Geetha, social worker from Iluppakorai village in Papanasam taluk; Manoharan, Chelladurai, Nadhiya from Rajendram village; Prabakaran, village president from Thirupazhanam; Vasumathi from Keelapunalvasal, Premavathy from Marur village and Manvizhi from Karaippakkam village in Ariualur district; Rajarajan from Thiruvaiyaru, Rama Thiyagarajan from Thirupurambiyam, Kalaimani and Alankudi Perumal from Samuthiram village in Sivaganga district.
