Telugu Desam opposes reopening of toll gate
Staff Reporter
ADILABAD: The Telugu Desam Party on Thursday opposed reopening of the Chanda (T) toll gate which was closed abruptly a few days back. The contractor of the toll gate had abandoned it after facing considerable opposition from local people.
TDP activists submitted a memorandum to a team of engineering officials who had visited the toll gate site for making fresh assessment towards reopening it. The memorandum lists out the objections raised by the party men.
While officials pointed out the Union government's directive to restart tolling operations at the Chanda river bridge, the TDP activists said heavy vehicles should be diverted on the four lane bypass by keeping the toll gate closed.
They said heavy vehicle traffic passing through Adilabad town created a lot of problems for locals including deadly accidents.
Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna also met the officials.
