Ensure supply of essential commodities

KRISHNAGIRI: The district administration is gearing up to minimise the impact of indefinite lorry strike from December 5 called by the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) to chalk out strategies and making alternative arrangements for transportation of essential commodities in government buses.

At a meeting held here on Thursday, District Collector V. Arun Roy instructed officials to take steps for the transportation of vegetables, essential commodities, milk and fruits in government buses to avoid inconveniences to the people. He instructed them to take steps to maintain uninterrupted supply of petrol, diesel without any hitch.

The Collector asked the officials to ensure that all essential commodities were made available through the public distribution system from December 5.
