Cooperative week celebrations bring best out of students

TIRUCHI: A large number of school and college students, participated in the oratorical, poem composing competitions held in connection with the 57th All India Cooperative Week celebrations at Makkal Mandram in the city recently.

Competitions were held in the categories of classes VI to VIII; classes IX and X; classes XI and XII and college students.

A large number of cooperative staff participated in the elocution competition held on the occasion.

Thilakavathi, professor, Tamil University, Thanjavur, was the judge for both the competitions.

Jatindranath Swain, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, gave away prizes to the winners of the competitions. Rama Jayampandian, regional joint registrar of cooperative societies, Rajendra Prasad, special officer of the Tiruchi District Central Cooperative Bank, Chand Basha, senior regional manager, IFFCO, and other officials were present.

The following is the list of winners: Classes VI to VIII: Poem composing: V. Vasanthakumar (St. Joseph's College HSS); Elocution: M. Marimuthu (St. Joseph's College HSS).

Classes IX and X: Poem composing: M. Soumya (LMP Government High School, Lalgudi); Elocution: A. Mubin Banu (LMP Government HS, Lalgudi).

Classes XI and XII: Poem composing: R. Baby (St. Joseph's HSS, Vadugarpettai); Elocution: R. Deepalakshmi (Holy Cross Girls HSS).

College students:

Elocution: M. Revathi (Shrimati Indira Gandhi College). A.Manoharan, field manager of Tiruchi District Central Cooperative Bank won the first place in elocution competition for the cooperative staff.

Abdul Khader of Tiruchi District Central Cooperative Bank and M. Ramachandran, vice-principal, Cooperative Management Training Institute, finished second and third respectively.
