Three persons, including VAO, arrested on charges of impersonation

CHENNAI: The Crime Branch CID police have arrested three persons, including a Village Administrative Officer, on charges of impersonation and cheating.

According to a press release, it was found during the course of a civil suit in the Madras High Court over a property dispute that C. Sivaramachandran of Natham impersonated as C.T.C Natchiyappa Chettiyar, who died in May 2005. The civil suit pertains to a claim of ownership over 10.5 grounds of land at Kumaran Colony in Vadapalani.

The Court directed the CBCID to investigate the complaint of impersonation.

With the help of Village Administrative Officer, Annamalai, the accused obtained a false death certificate in the name of C.T. Chokalinga Chettiyar and a legal heir certificate in the name of C.T.C. Natchiyappa Chettiyar. Three accused Liyakath Ali, Rathineswaran and Annamalai were arrested and remanded to judicial custody, the release added.
