Notice ordered on former MP's plea
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Thursday ordered notice on a petition by a former Congress MP seeking to implead himself in a petition filed by Nalini, a life convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, seeking premature release.
R. Anbarasu, a former MP, had filed the petition in which he objected to Nalini's plea for premature release.
He said that the death sentence imposed on her was later commuted to life imprisonment.
She could not seek premature release as a right.
When the matter came up before Justice R. Sudhakar, he ordered notice, returnable in two weeks.
