Thiruvananthapuram: Ombudsman for Local Self Government Institutions M.R. Hariharan Nair has registered a case on his own against the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Secretary for the failure to curb the stray dog menace in the city. Responding to media reports about a spate of dog bite cases this week, he said the secretary had earlier been issued directions on sterilising stray dogs following the Supreme Court ban on killing the animals. The secretary has been asked to present a report on the situation before the Corporation Council and take steps for sterilisation of stray dogs at all places within the jurisdiction of the local body. He has also been directed to seek government assistance for funds or technical support.
