A first: A joint cleanliness drive in progress atDU campus on Thursday. NEW DELHI: In a remarkable first, St. Stephen's College and Hindu College joined hands for a cleanliness drive in which Principals of both institutes participated. The two-hour drive was held at St. Stephen's College campus and saw its Principal Prof. Valson Thampu and Hindu College Principal Prof. Vinay Kumar Srivastava personally lead the initiative. Over 150 students, members of teaching community, staff and alumni from both the colleges participated while Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Singh was also present. The project was aimed primarily at inculcating a sense of dignity of labour in the students and to encourage a healthy work culture and to raise awareness regarding the duty of citizens to care for the environment. The two colleges have a history of rivalry. Thus the event signified a shift from a spirit of competition to cooperation.
