Ghantasala Melody King Award for ‘Indian Idol' Sree Ramachandra

Young and old alike vie with one another to get a glimpse of the singer



‘Indian Idol' M. Sree Ramachandra being presented Ghantasala Melody King Award by MLC K.S. Lakshman Rao in Guntur on Saturday. Member of Parliament Rayapati Sambasiva Rao is also seen.

Guntur: Dasari Music Academy (DMA) has presented ‘Ghantasala Melody King Award' to ‘Indian Idol' M. Sree Ramachandra in a glittering function held at Sri Venkateswara Vignana Mandiram here on Saturday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the renowned singer and musician Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao.

The singing sensation was felicitated by Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, MLC K.S. Lakshman Rao, DMA founder-president P Ranga Rao and vice-president Sreerama Murthy and other dignitaries.

Mr. Ramachandra was the cynosure of all eyes at the venue.

The young and old alike vied with one another to get a glimpse of the singer and get his autograph. Mr. Ramachandra has politely obliged most of them and later rendered a few popular Telugu film songs originally sung by Ghantasala.

The audience were spellbound by the scintillating performance of Mr. Ramachandra, who thanked the DMA for recognising his talent and, said that Ghantasala was a great singer whom he would always revere.

Ghantasala was not only a legendary singer but also a true gentleman who inspired many an artist with his varied talents. Earlier in the morning, Mr. Ramachandra garlanded the statue of Ghantasala at Naaz Center and paid floral tributes to him.

He said it was his privilege to be felicitated on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Ghantasala whose singing prowess was unmatched.
