Jaipur BRTS bags award

JAIPUR: The Jaipur City Transport Service Limited, established in the Rajasthan Capital recently under the Bus Rapid Transit System scheme, has bagged the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission Urban Mobility Award-2010 for new technological applications and innovations.

State Transport Minister Braj Kishore Sharma received the award from Union Urban Development Minister S. Jaipal Reddy at the “Urban Mobility India” conference organised in New Delhi on Sunday. Awards were given away on the occasion to the best mass transit projects selected from among the JNNURM projects across the country.

The public sector JCTS Limited has introduced about 400 low floor and semi-low floor buses in its BRTS fleet in the Capital city, providing a convenient and affordable facility to the commuters.

The buses have two wide doors on both sides and a flat floor inside which provide comfort to travellers even during the rush hours.
