Housing scheme: issuance of identity cards

SALEM: The Agriculture Minister, Veerapandi S Arumugam, has announced that he and Collector J Chandrakumar would be visiting unions in the district to issue identity cards to the beneficiaries under the Kalaignar Concrete Housing Scheme.

The Minister, in a statement here on Monday, said that the Chief Minister, M. Karunandihi, had announced that 21 lakh hut dwelling units would be converted into concrete houses in the state under the scheme in 6 years with each house getting Rs. 75, 000 as fund. The Minister further pointed out that he and Collector would tour the district union-wise and distribute the identity cards to the beneficiaries from December 8 to 12. Already revenue officials of respective unions would have alerted the beneficiaries about the ID distribution. Hence, the beneficiaries should attend the function at appropriate time and date without fail, he asked them.
