KOCHI: Timely action by the Marine Enforcement Wing of Department of Fisheries saved the lives of six fishermen from Tamil Nadu off the district's coast, after their boat was reported to have wrecked after hitting a ship. A message reached the office of Circle Inspector K.M. Sajeev by 6 p.m. on Monday that the boat ‘Child Jesus II' that went from Thoppumpady fishing harbour met with an accident at about eight nautical miles north-west to Vypeen. Rescue teams were despatched , and by the time they reached the spot, the boat was drowned. However, the team could save all the six fishermen by tracking diesel spillage and remains of the wreck. The boat had left the harbour on December 3.
