Farm co-op meeting from today

Bangalore: The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) Expo 2010, in which 130 cooperatives exhibitors from 23 countries will take part, will commence here on Wednesday.

The biggest agricultural cooperatives in the world are in Asia and they will be represented at the expo. They include IFFCO (Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperatives Limited), the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation of Korea and JA-Zenchu of Japan. The Cooperative Group of the U.K., the largest consumer cooperative in the world, will also participate.

The three-day expo, to be inaugurated by the former Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda, will be held at KTPO Whitefield. Co-operatives from Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Georgia, Korea, India, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Mauritius, Nigeria, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, East Timor, the U.K. and the U.S. are participating.

The expo brings cooperative industry experts under one roof.
