Kashinath Naik felicitated

SIRSI: Kashinath Naik who won a bronze medal in javelin throw in Commonwealth Games 2010 was felicitated at Sahayadri Rangamandira, Sirsi, on Monday. He is a native of Bengle in Sirsi taluk. Replying to the felicitation, Naik said he had worked hard for the success. In rural areas, talented children did not get the support of the Government. He said Sirsi needed a sports academy. Naik urged the State Government to lay synthetic tracks at Marikamba District Stadium and to open a sports hostel in Sirsi. He said that he was prepared to impart sports training if the State Government wished for the same. He said that rural sportspersons needed proper guidance and opportunities to come up in national and international-level sports.

Many organisations and institutions felicitated Naik on the occasion.

Uttara Kannnada district in-charge Minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, who holds the Primary and Secondary Education portfolios, assured Naik that a synthetic track and sports hostel would be set up at Sirsi. Deputy Commissioner B.N. Krishnaiah, Assistant Commissioner G. Jagadish, tahasildar Krishnmurthy H. K., municipal president Ravi Chandavar, and taluk panchayat president Sadanand Bhat were present.
