Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: The United Democratic Front on Tuesday upheld the Congress' stand that it will not hold any talks with Janadhipathya Samrakshana Samithi (JSS) leader K.R. Gouri to settle issues between the two parties. The Congress finally had its way when JSS leaders Rajan Babu and K.K. Shaju informed a UDF high-power committee meeting that Ms. Gouri would participate in the UDF meeting slated for December 22. UDF convener P.P. Thankachan announced at a press meet soon after the meeting that bilateral talks between the Congress and JSS leaders would be held on the same day. The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee's leadership meeting had decided on Monday not to hold talks with Ms. Gouri unless she first attended the UDF meeting and present her case. Mr. Thankachan briefed the UDF meeting the outcome of his talks with Ms. Gouri. He had been authorised to hold discussions with her recently, following which he met her on Thursday last. KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala conveyed the decision taken by his party's leadership meeting. Mr. Thankachan said he had no reasons to believe that Ms. Gouri would stay away from the December 22 meeting. “She will attend the meeting after which the bilateral talks would be held,” he said.
