Case solved: City Police Commissioner C. Sylendra Babu restoring to students on Tuesday, laptops that had been stolen from them. –
Coimbatore: Forty-two two-wheelers and 25 laptops that had been reported stolen and subsequently recovered by City Police, were handed over to the owners here on Monday.
City Police Commissioner C. Sylendra Babu handed over the two-wheelers worth over Rs. 16 lakh and the laptops worth Rs. 7.20 lakh.
Mr.Babu told journalists that a special team was constituted under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) N. Kamini and Inspector of Police (Race Course – Crime) Periasamy. The teams arrested K. Balu alias Baladhandapani (35) of Othakkal- mandapam in Coimbatore and R. Siva (27) Mettur in Salem District and recovered the two-wheelers.
Following complaints of laptop thefts from college students who had been residing in houses in Saravanampatti, Peelamedu and Singanallur, a special team led by Inspector Charles arrested S. Pradeep Sunny (21) and S. Stalin (20) of Varadarajapuram and Saravanampatti, and recovered the laptops.
